Urban Buses in Northern England (Amberley)

Back Order

The North of England has long been an area of great interest for bus enthusiasts. In the early 1990s, where the coverage of Urban Buses in Northern England begins, a wide variety of operators, liveries and vehicles could still be found in daily service. Small independent operators could be found alongside large former municipal concerns in many towns and cities.

Author, Peter Tucker presents a fine selection of photographs from the last 30 years, illustrating how the area’s urban bus scene has changed between the 1990s and the beginning of the 2020s. Recalls many early liveries from the immediate post-privatisation era that have long since faded from memory.

The book begins with a brief account of the author’s early introduction to the bus scene and how that interest developed over the next 30 years. The introduction is followed by over 170 colour photographs and accompanying details of the illustrated vehicles.

Urban Buses in Northern England covers the North East, North West and Yorkshire regions of England, including operators such as Arriva, First, Northern, Stagecoach and Yorkshire Rider, plus much-loved independents such as Black Prince and OK Travel. 96 pages.
