The LT Area 2: South West London (Visions)

Back Order

This is the second volume in in a series of photographic albums looking at bus operations in the former London Transport Central Area. The LT Area 2 covers “South West London”. For the purposes of this book, that covers those parts of London south of the Thames with a SW postcode, as well as those parts of Greater London formerly in Surrey, for example Kingston-Upon-Thames and Sutton, with the Brighton Road as the dividing line between “South West” and “South East” London.

The photographs illustrate many different vehicle types, seen at different locations all around South West London. Most of the pictures were taken between 1967, at the dawn of the “Reshaping” era, and 1984, when London Transport became the subject of a major reorganisation instigated by the then Conservative government.

The LT Area 2: South West London also includes a general introduction to the London bus scene during this period. Most of the photographs are black & white, however, there are also some more recent scenes, to give a flavour of how the area covered has changed subsequently. Most pages are presented with two or three pictures per page and every photograph is accompanied by a detailed caption.

Jim Blake has combed his extensive archives to provide fresh material, since the vast majority of the 360 or so photographs included herein have not been published before. 134 pages.
