A fascinating assortment of photographs from the late 1980s onwards which show Northern Counties-bodied buses at work in various locations across the country. From its formation in 1919 in Wigan, Lancashire, Northern Counties Motor & Engineering Company Limited grew to become one of Britain’s most prominent bus builders. The author, Howard Wilde, has used a wide range of his own photographs to give an insight into the state of the British bus industry in the late 1980s, with some images showing buses as they were when new, whilst others depict the colourful liveries fostered by the secondhand scene during the deregulated era. Each chapter begins with a short description of the variety covered, followed by a selection of photographs, each accompanied by a caption. Colour photographs. 96 pages.
