In this book, Jim Blake presents a selection of black & white photographs of independently owned buses and coaches operating around Britain during the 1960s.

A large number of independent operators existed during this period, ranging in size from major operators such as Lancashire United to small operators who owned just a few vehicles. Often, these small operators would own vehicles passed down from larger operators and could include vehicle types which were becoming obsolete. Many vehicles were kept running until they were literally falling to pieces!

The book covers the major independent operators, such as Barton Transport, Lancashire United, West Riding and Wallace Arnold, as well as many smaller operators who possessed only a handful of vehicles.

British Independent Bus & Coach Operators: A Snapshot from the 1960s presents black & white photographs of independently owned buses and coaches around Britain during the 1960s. Each photograph is accompanied by a caption and a short introduction is also included. Hardback. 176 pages.
