A Transport Journey in Colour: Street Scenes of the British Isles 1949-1969 (Pen & Sword)

Back Order

As the title suggests, this is a superb colour album of street scenes from all over the British Isles taken between 1949 and 1969 and featuring buses, trams and trolleybuses plus a few passenger and industrial railways crossing or running on or alongside public roads.

The locations depicted start in Penzance, Cornwall, and the main part of the tour of mainland Britain ends, appropriately, in Thurso, the northernmost town on the mainland. There are also scenes from the Scottish islands, the Isle of Man (including the famous Douglas Horse Tramway), Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. The last few scenes are from Wales, including the Great Orme Tramway in Llandudno and the long-gone Swansea & Mumbles Railway, and the last photo is from Jersey.

Hardback. 182 pages. About 180 colour photos.
