The annual survey of tramway developments around the world looks back over 2020 and examines how this most turbulent of years has impacted tramway operations and assesses the consequences for the future.
The review comprises a chronology of events during the year and a series of interesting articles looking at specific topics. It concentrates mainly on tramways in Germany, but also contains separate chapters looking at Austria and Switzerland. Other areas of Europe are addressed in turn and key systems worldwide are also examined.
For each system in Germany, Strassenbahn Jahrbuch 2021 looks at how expansion plans have been impacted and contains details of significant changes that have arisen from the Covid-19 pandemic. The introduction to service of new tram vehicles is covered as usual and useful tables are provided showing system lengths, fleet summaries and web addresses for each German system.
