Hermann Hoyer was a railway and tramway enthusiast from Hamburg who built up a vast photographic archive of the city’s tramway network from the 1950s to the 1970s. His photographs include many lively street scenes and images from all around the city.

From Hermann’s unique collection, Stefan Carstens has put together this book illustrating the economic miracle in Hamburg, in the context of the city’s transport networks.
