This is the complete fleet list of all locomotives and multiple units in service with Germany’s main rail operator, Deutsche Bahn (DB), as at 1st July 2019. It begins with an introduction outlining DB's the current situation, then covers recent developments such as the introduction of the ICE 4 and ICE 2 trains and the planned life-extension of the ICE 1 fleet, which is almost 30 years old. This is followed by the fleet lists which are arranged by class number, starting with Class 101 and finishing with Class 946. The depot allocation for each locomotive or multiple unit is also provided. There are several pages of photos, mostly arranged two per page many with detailed captions. Notable trains depicted include the Class 182 Taurus-hauled Berlin–Hamburg IRE, formed of DB Regio red-liveried former InterRegio coaches, a Class 185 double-headed freight in the Rhine valley, a Class 245 diesel TRAXX hauling the new direct Köln–Gera InterCity train introduced in December 2018, the 2-coach ICE-S test train, and a Bombardier Twindexx double-deck EMU in Schleswig-Holstein green/grey livery. Also included are lists of DB locomotives operated by DB-owned subsidiaries such as DB Netz Instandhaltung, works locomotives officially deleted from the DB fleet, and preserved locomotives and multiple units.
