A large format album of high quality colour images looking at the operation of steam locomotives in Germany between 1973 and 2000. Author, Robin Garn, gained extensive experience of both German state railways. In 1973 he moved from the Federal Republic to the GDR, where he developed his own photographic style. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, Garn was heavily involved in the establishment of Plandampf steam events and later became editor of the magazine BAHNEpoche.

Heissdampf: Fotografien und Erlebnisse in Deutschland (1973-2000) contains many atmospheric and artistic images that capture the past of Germany’s railway worlds. Several different perspectives are presented, from steam locomotives powering through beautiful railway landscapes, to the sight of drivers and fireman seen hard at work.

The accompanying text describes some of the extraordinary exploits that Garn undertook in pursuit of his subjects, and recounts some of his adventures along the way. 224 pages. Large format hardback.
