A review of railways in the Altmark region of Germany, to the north of Magdeburg. The region is a major farming region of Germany and railway were built to transport crops out of the area. The first section of this book looks at the Altmark region and the main railway operator the ‘Kleinbahn Goldbeck – Werben – Elbe’ which ran from the main line at Goldbeck, through the region to the Elbe at Werben.
