In 1886, the Grand Duke of Mecklenburg granted the concession to build a narrow-gauge railway from Bad Doberan to Heiligendamm, which started operating in the same year. In 1908 it was decided to extend the route to Arendsee, today's Kühlungsborn, and two years later, trains began to run along the entire route.

For the past 25 years, Mecklenburgische Bäderbahn Molli GmbH has been successfully operating this historic railway line using operational narrow-gauge steam locomotives. The line has become one of the most popular and well-used tourist railways in Germany today.

In cooperation with the line’s operator, Mit dem Molli an der Ostsee Unterwegs DVD has been produced to record many of the operations and activities that take place on the line. It includes specially staged historically-themed trains, aerial photos of steam trains passing through the rapeseed fields adjacent to the Baltic Sea, fascinating footage from the engine and the driver's cab, as well as many other historical and current recordings. Also travels to the North Sea island of Borkum, where the Molli steam locomotive 99 331 was a guest for two weeks in 2019.

Mit dem Molli an der Ostsee Unterwegs DVD gives the viewer a taste of the daily steam trains, including behind-the-scenes footage at this very special narrow gauge railway. 58 minutes running time. German commentary.
