The North British Type 2: Bo-Bo Diesel-Electric Classes 21 & 29 (Pen & Sword)

Back Order

This book provides a detailed history of the North British Type 2 diesel-electric locomotives, which were built during the late 1950s and early 1960s as part of the dieselisation of Britain’s railways. The locomotives were used on the Eastern and Scottish regions, but poor performance meant they were all withdrawn from service by 1971. Looks at the design, technical details and operating lives of the locomotives, as well as providing individual locomotive histories, including details of the conversion from Class 21 to Class 29 of 20 locomotives in the mid-1960s. Well illustrated with colour and black & white photographs and diagrams. Hardback. 292 pages.
