An illustrated history of the electrified route between Manchester Victoria and Bury, now forming part of the Manchester Metrolink system. Contains a history and description of the line, before going on to look at signalling, Bury depot and the Class 504 electric multiple units which ran on the line until its closure in 1991, prior to conversion to the first section of Manchester's Metrolink light rail system. Follows the history of the line through each decade since the 1950s and looks at the closure of the line and withdrawal of the Class 504 units.
