An illustrated survey in "bookazine" style of the "Warship" diesel hydraulic locomotives built by North British for the Western Region of British Railways in the late 1950s and early 1960s.
An introduction to the two types of Warship locomotives built by North British in Glasgow is followed by entries for each of the individual locomotives. For each locomotive, a number of colour or black & white photographs are provided, accompanied by a record of allocations, mileage, delivery and withdrawal date.
The early locomotives D600-D604, which would later be classified as Class 41s are covered, as well as the more numerous D833-D865 locomotives, which would later become Class 43s.
