The county of Cornwall is home to a rich and varied railway landscape. Cornish Railways: Saltash to St Austell follows the railway through this part of the county, taking in the abundant farmland west of St Germans, the unique Glynn Valley towards Bodmin and the freight areas of Lostwithiel & Par before reaching china clay country and the final destination of St Austell. The branch lines to Looe, Carne Point at Fowey, and Newquay are also explored.

The book is comprised of 180 colour illustrations, many of which are set in glorious countryside, featuring a variety of locomotive types. Scheduled passenger services dominate the images, although charter trains are also featured, some with exotic traction for the far south west. Numerous freight trains are also illustrated.

The photographs capture the changing landscape through the seasons, from the short days of winter with piercing low sunlight, to the long days of high summer, capturing not just the trains, but the beautiful hills, rivers and coastline in the Duchy. Most of the photographs are presented in two-per-page format and all are accompanied by detailed captions. 96 pages.
