Class 150 Sprinters (Amberley)

Back Order

By Andrew Cole. This book contains colour photographs of Class 150 ‘Sprinter’ DMUs operating around Britain since their introduction in 1984. The Class 150 was the first production series of Second Generation diesel multiple unit. The class was built in the mid-1980s to replace the still widespread, but ailing fleet of First Generation DMUs dating from the 1950s and 1960s. The introduction of these units and the other `Sprinter' types that followed enabled the older units to be withdrawn and safeguarded many lightly-used services that might otherwise have been under threat of withdrawal. A brief overview and introduction to the Class 150s is followed by a series of photographs of the units in operation with BR and subsequently with private operators. Each photo is accompanied by a caption providing details of the subject. 96 pages.
