The London, Tilbury & Southend Railway: A History of the Company and Line Volume 8: 1963-1975

Back Order

By Peter Kay. The eighth and final volume of this detailed history concerning the lines that made up the London, Tilbury and Southend Railway. This volume nominally covers the years from 1963 to 1975, but some parts of the story have been taken through to the 1980s to provide a better endpoint to the `old’ situation, and the histories of individual locations have been taken to the 21st century, at least in outline description.

Specific areas covered in this volume are:

  • Passenger Service 1963–1975
  • Freight Services 1958–1975: The Oil Boom Years
  • Feature on the Ripple Lane yards
  • Corrigenda and Addenda to previous volumes
  • Photo feature on Shoeburyness loco shed
  • A Riverside Finale

The London Tilbury & Southend Railway Volume 8 also includes a combined index to all volumes in the series and selected other associated works that contain related information. This volume represents the culmination of 27 years of research by the author.
