Search for Steam: Industrial Railways 1964-1966 (Amberley)

1 In Stock

To produce this book Charlie Verrall has documented the industrial steam locomotives which he saw and photographed during group visits to a number of industrial railway sites. Over the years 1964 to 1966, he drove around the country on visits to loco sheds, iron and steel works, quarries and collieries, papermills and dockyards and even the Ford Motor company at Dagenham! Accompanying each photograph is a note of the place it was seen and the date of the visit when it was photographed, along with the builders or works number and an abbreviated makers name. The majority of the photographs are black & white, but there are some in colour. An introduction to the use of steam-powered locomotives for the haulage of goods and materials in industrial situations is also included. 96 pages.
