Narrow Gauge Album: 1950-1965 in Colour (Lightmoor)

Back Order

An album of colour photographs of narrow gauge railways around Britain between 1950 and 1965. During this period, the number of narrow gauge railways in operation began to contract substantially due to increasing competition from road transport. Some railways attracted the attention of the preservation movement and this volume captures a unique period of transition for the narrow gauge railway. Several of the well-known survivors in North Wales are featured, as are those on the Isle of Man and a few in Ireland. Several lines that didn’t survive are also featured. Captions accompany every photograph and further text provides some background history. Hardback. 208 pages.
