Locomotives of the Highland Railway (Amberley)

1 In Stock

A fascinating collection of photos and postcards of steam locos of the Highland Railway, which was formed from the merger of the Inverness & Aberdeen Junction and the Inverness & Perth Junction railways in 1865 and operated all lines radiating from Inverness until the 1923 Grouping.

All classes of loco to have operated on the Highland Railway are illustrated, including those originally built for the HR’s two predecessor companies. The photos are arranged approximately in order of introduction of each class. At the back there is a fleet list with the locos grouped according to the loco supervisor who built them. Their LMS and BR numbers are also given where applicable.

96 pages. Over 200 photos, mostly black & white. Published 2014.
