Lairds in Waiting (Highland Railway Society)

£9.90
Back Order

Anne-Mary Paterson, grandniece of Highland Railway Engineer-in-Chief Murdoch Paterson, has compiled this concise history of private stations and waiting rooms on the Highland Railway.

Each entry consists of a history of the family that used the station in question and then that of the station itself and the development opportunities brought by the arrival of the railway at that location, including the growth of the whisky industry in the case of Moy station near Inverness. As well as archive photos, some present day shots of stations still extant, such as Beauly and Dunrobin Castle, are also featured.

88 pages. Approximately 50 photos, mostly black & white. Softback.
