An album of high quality colour and black & white photographs of Sir Nigel Gresley's iconic A4 locomotives in action between the mid-1930s and the 1960s. Photographs of every locomotive are included during both the LNER and BR periods and a chapter is also included covering the 1946 renumbering, which only lasted for a few years.
Photographs cover the locomotives at major railway centres along the East Coast Main Line, where they operated during their heyday, including Peterborough, King's Cross, Doncaster, York, Newcastle and Edinburgh. Also featured are later photographs of A4s at work operating trains between Glasgow, Perth and Aberdeen.
Gresley's A4s presents a fascinating series of photographs of one of the world's most famous steam locomotive classes. Each photograph is accompanied by an informative caption. Hardback. 240 pages.
