An album of black & white photos of narrow gauge industrial railways in Dorset and Somerset mostly taken between the 1950s and the 1970s. Locations covered include Portland Quarries; George Jennings’s South Western Pottery, Parkstone; Lytchett Brick Company, Upton; Norden clay mines; and Swanage Pier Railway.
Passenger-carrying narrow gauge railways, such as the short-lived Creekmoor Light Railway and the Gartell Light Railway, which runs along part of the trackbed of the former Somerset & Dorset route, are also featured. For each railway there are maps and photos of the trains and infrastructure such as mine shafts and wagon loading equipment.
