The sixth volume in this detailed series looking at British Railways during its first 25 years, from 1948 through to the years following the end of steam. Subtitled, Central London: Southern Region, this volume features the area from the Southern London terminus stations to a distance of about four miles, out, including the large motive power depots at Nine Elms, Stewarts Lane and Bricklayers Arms, plus Britain's busiest station at Clapham Junction. The book is divided into chapters, each covering a different section of line. Each chapter contains a short description of events in the area during the first 25 years of BR, followed by a selection of black & white photographs, each accompanied by very detailed captions.
